Professional Organiser Lewisham

Do you live in, or nearby, Lewisham? And would you like to declutter and organise your home, and transform it into a calm, clutter-free space?

I live in Lewisham, on the border with Greenwich, squeezed in between Blackheath and Deptford, with Peckham and Brockley also on my doorstep. I work a lot with people in these, and surrounding, areas. But I’m also happy to travel further afield.

So if you’re looking for a Professional Organiser in the Lewisham area, why not book in a Free Consultation with me? This is a 30-minute video call during which we chat about your decluttering needs and how I can help you to achieve your goals.

Decluttering in Lewisham: my at-home services

With most of my clients, I offer at home services. This means that I work with you in-person. I come to your home to help you do the decluttering and organising, and in such a way that you can keep your home tidy going forwards.

It means having an extra pair of hands to move things around. And I ensure you, things will move!

I usually work with people on a 1:1 basis, but it’s also fine if you’d like your partner or children to get involved too.

You can also book online Tidying Sessions with me, where I coach you through the process of decluttering and organising your space via video call.

Why book a local Lewisham Professional Organiser?

The advantage of booking in a local Professional Organiser / Declutterer is that I have local knowledge of how to get unwanted items out of your home. I know of a variety of local charities that are more than happy to take your unwanted items. I used to recommend Sue Ryder in Lee Green (SE12) for example, because they had free parking available on their doorstep, which made it very easy to drop off items. However, that Sue Ryder branch is now closed, but I happily share alternatives with you.

I also know of local facebook groups, where you can flog your items, or simply pass them on to other people for free. A lot of these are parent groups in areas such as Hither Green, Sydenham, and Catford.

If you’d like to sell your items, but don’t have the time to do this yourself, I’d happily share the details of some lovely, local people who can sell items on your behalf. Making a bit of cash from your unwanted items is a great idea, but the actual selling can be quite a lot of effort. You’ll need to take photos of the items, write a description, reply to any questions, and then package and post the item. Just thinking about this makes me a bit tired! Wouldn’t it be wonderful if someone else did all the legwork for you, but you still earn a bit of cash from your unwanted items? Several of my clients sell their items via my local contacts.

Hiring a Lewisham based declutterer means a lower carbon footprint

Whenever I can, I try to cycle to clients. I’m originally from the Netherlands, and I’ve been brought up to see cycling as the way to go from A to B if it takes less than an hour.

I’ve got three young children (aged 8, 11 and 13), so you can imagine that life is already busy enough, but ideally I do want to fit in some exercise. For me, cycling is a great way to fit in a bit of cardio without it taking up extra time, if I do it when travelling to/from clients’ homes in and around Lewisham.

Cycling up Blackheath Hill or the roads around Sydenham, Forest Hill, and the Horniman Museum are not what my Dutch calves are used to though!

I do drive, but I don’t have a car, so I can’t take your unwanted items with me and drop them off at a charity or the tip for you. But I know of charities that collect items from your home, if you can’t do a charity donation yourself. I can also put you in touch with some lovely, local people who can sell your unwanted items on your behalf.

Home decluttering and organising, from Brockley to Catford

I used to live in Lee/Hither Green, then I moved to Brockley (at the Crofton Park end), and I now live in Lewisham. In all places, I’ve always had lovely parks nearby: Manor House Gardens, Hilly Fields, Ladywell Fields, Brookmill Park and Greenwich Park.

After I became a parent, I started to appreciate my local area more. I guess because it’s so much easier to stay local with little ones in tow. I take my kids to the park a lot, but we also like going to Glass Mill swimming pool in Lewisham, and Wavelengths in Deptford. We also like going to Air Thrill in Catford, Peckham Plex for a cheap cinema experience (and previously also Catford Mews but unfortunately that closed) (and I’m eagerly awaiting the opening of a cinema in Lewisham where the roundabout used to be!), and the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich.

What are your favourite local activities?

Your (Lewisham) home, your haven

Even though we live in a lovely area, with lots of amazing places to visit and great activities on our doorstep, we do spend a lot of time at home too. And that’s why I think it’s important to have a home which doesn’t cause stress, and which doesn’t make you feel annoyed and irritable. Does your home ever feel like a never ending to do list?

How would it feel to have a home you love, one you never get tired of coming back to, that makes your life easier, calmer, and more fun?

You want to make your home a haven from the hectic world outside, one that makes you feel safe and helps you and your family recharge.

Decluttering and organising your Lewisham home can help you to achieve this.

Home decluttering and organising in Lewisham, Marie Kondo style

I did my Professional Organiser training with Marie Kondo, who developed the KonMari Method®. Marie Kondo is a Japanese tidying expert, and she’s written several books about decluttering and home organisation. You might recognise the titles of her most well known books “The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying” and “Spark Joy”.

Marie Kondo also hosts two TV series on Netflix, showing home transformations using her KonMari Method®.

I was the first Marie Kondo Consultant in south east London. Even though I’m certified in the KonMari Method®, I think it’s important to be flexible. I’m all about finding the organising method that suits you, your goals and your home.
